al- Aqsa.. the fact..

GMJ- "Human Rights and Palestine: Why We Care and Why We are Important"

by Ooi Kok Hin.
*2nd Year student,Political Science, American Degree Transfer Program, Taylor's University College

Good evening Mr and Mrs Chairperson, distinguished guests, ladies, and gentlemen. I am honored to be given an opportunity to speak here tonight and I would like to thank the organizers for the opportunity and for having this wonderful and meaningful event.

Imagine that you are now at your home; with all your family members, happily living together under one roof. Then one day, a group of people comes to your house, armed with guns and MK-16 rifles, points at you and orders you and your family members to leave your house at once. With nowhere to go, with no permanent shelter, little money and food, some of your family members starve, some of your family members get robbed and terrorized by outlaws, and some of your family members get killed because he or she wants to protect you, the children, the young people, leaders of tomorrow.

This is not just an imaginary situation. Thousands of families have been broken up in Palestine. Families destroyed, broken dreams, kids wandering about without the love of their parents and their lives consigned to seeking protection, constantly running away from their prosecutors. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight I would like to address two questions that people have been asking us: why we care and why we are important.

I have been trying to ask many of my friends, what their thoughts and opinions on the Palestine issue are. What surprised me is that some of them feel that this is completely a religious issue; sparked by religious conflict; a tension between two religions.

I am a Buddhist, and I am a human being and I feel that they couldn’t be more off the mark in this issue. This is a human rights issue. When someone pointed gun at you and ordered you to flee, forcing you to become refugees and seizing your property, isn’t that a human rights issue?

We the people, are born with certain inalienable rights; the rights to life, liberty and property. And no one, no government in this world, no regime can take these natural rights away from us. So when the rights of the people of Palestine have been reduced to next to nothing by their oppressors, there is absolutely no reason not to see this as a violation of the United Nations’ Human Rights agreement.

We the people, share collective interests as human beings. When one part of the world is weakened, it affects us all. We are our brothers’ keepers and we look out for each other. This is what sharing the world means. Of course it is a much easier choice if you just sit at home and be an armchair critic. But if we are serious in following the advice of Mahatma Gandhi, that is to be the change that we want to see in this world, we cannot ignore conflict. We cannot ignore the source of conflict in Palestine.

We need to face and confront this issue together. It is only when citizens of the world unite and show that we indeed care about this issue that we start to see people in power taking action. So get your friends, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, Jews, people of all races and religions in different parts of the world and bring their attention to this human rights issue. Get them together to demand justice, action and freedom for the people of Palestine!

This leads to my next point: why are you important to the Palestinians. Do you know why people commit suicide? It is that dreadful feeling of being all alone on your own. That there is no brighter tomorrow. And nobody cares.

But we are here tonight to show the people of Palestine that they are not alone. We are here tonight to show the people of Palestine that we care! We are here tonight to show them that there are millions of people around the world that support them! Do not give up! That is our message to them!

You serve a purpose by being here; you give them assurance, you give them hope, and you give them the courage to carry on.

In conclusion, this is a human rights issue that deserves our attention and we the citizens of the world play a very important role in giving hope and courage to the people of Palestine. This is not a one night fight. This fight will not end when you go to sleep tonight. You must be committed and have the stamina to continue to support this cause for as long as you can.

Just remember that this is not an impossible dream. The blacks were once widely discriminated, but people like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela keep fighting. And when the world recognized their fight, freedom reigns in their lands.

So let freedom reigns in the land of Palestine. Let freedom reigns in Gaza. Let freedom reigns in the holy city of Jerusalem. And one day when we let freedom reigns, the world shall see Muslim children, Christian children, Jewish children and people of all parts of the world joining hands together and we can finally say to the the people of Palestine, “free at last! Free at last! Thank God al-mighty we are free at last!”

Thank you!

its truly a new experience

bismillah...

nmpk mcm aku tamak. but seriously? aku pon rase aku tamak. hekhek. ;P
how to describe the experience eh. hurm.

'ia memang suatu pengalaman y tak dpt dilupakan and i'll take it as a lesson for me.. not just A lesson but A LOT OF lessons...'

sekarang aku still menjadi seorang guru@cikgu@ustazah di Sekolah Menengah Islam Al-Amin Gombak (SMIAAG).. nk kate ni skolah aku dlu pon tidak coz ak hanya sekolah rendah je kt al-amin ni.. but.. for me its an opportunity lah nk berasa biah solehah kt sek. men. al-amin nih.. xjd student dlu jd ckgu skg pon ok.. :) n they call me 'cikgu Ina'.. how cute.. ;P hekhek.. advance lg nk tau ape? 'ckgu doctor@doctor ckgu' haha saba je lah.. ;)

and i teach kimia F4, science F3, tasawwur islami F1, hafazan n tilawah F1, F2 n F5... nmpk mcm byk but actually its not so pon..like certain time (mcm hr ni) bosan giler bile takde kelas n i got nothing to do. dok melangut la dr 12.30 smpai 3.30... nice!

but anyway, some people might question me.. why becoming a teacher when u have TWO n A HALF MONTH to enjoy???

haha seriously. enjoy lah sgt klo cuti.. bosan giler kot. br cuti weekend ak da pening kepala nk buat apa. last2 men game dr tgh hr smpai ptg. haiyya xproductive lgsg.. -_-"

so thats the second reason why i become a teacher. hmm second? so whats the first reason???

haha ni nk cite.. well actually semua org (students of MD (UKM)AUCMS 0914) have to do an elective posting. pemende tuh? a job/work/etc that we have to do during our 3rd/4th year semester break as a way to serve the public (erm ni ak hentam je sndiri tp nmpk cm btol lah kot)... it have to be 4 weeks if we do it local or 2 weeks if we do it abroad.

klo cik jah nk tau, plan asal aku mmg byk... 1stly, ak planned nk g new zealand buat kt tmpt keje abg aku je.. tp plan kne reject ngan mommy coz bajet lari. 2ndly, kt hospital selayang... 3rdly n 4thly, ak planned nk buat kt HKL, follow doctor kt sne @ follow akak aku kt farmasi wad psikiatri tu jeh. n the 5th plan br la nk mengaja kt al-amin nihh... oh the 2nd, 3rd n 4th xjadi sbb aku MALAS nk wt paperwork menatang tu sume.. ;P

so the only option AT THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT is mengajar di Al-Amin. y ni sng skit coz pkai org dlm, PK situ kwn mak aku, so xde la mende paperwork menatang tu sume.. hoho... so i already ask my mommy to ask Cg Alia (PK al amin a.k.a kwn mak aku tu) bout the job..

*all these plannings takes place before our final exam (means b4 cuti start) n BEFORE DR Bad tercinta (our faculty dean) told us y if possible the elective posting is NOT at hospital settings (baca bukan kat hospital).. n aku pon 'oh, being a teacher seems THE option'..

THEN, few of my friends planning utk keje di resort! n i was like "oh! seems VERY interesting!! something i never done b4" aku pon setuju la utk join their plan..

so when the holiday have started n i go back home, aku pon gitau la my mommy y aku nk wt elektif posting tu kt resort. then my mommy pon ckp la.. 'dah ckp ngan Cg Alia y im going to work there, takkan tetibe nk cancel?' hurm. sami'na wa ato'na (kami dgr dan kami patuh) so aku pon gtaw la kwn2 y im not going to follow them to the resort in terengganu but im just going to be a teacher here at my hometown..

THEN, another turning point of the plannings.. suddenly a night b4 my frens (without me) are going to terengganu for their elective posting, we got ORDER from our beloved dean that we HAVE to go back to penang n get our result THE VERY NEXT morning! duh! last minute decisions are really their policy... -_-"

anyway, some of my fren are already HERE in kl that evening to going to terengganu the very next morning. duh kesian giler dorg, tiket y aku bli smpai 9 keping tu n cost about rm40+ each burn cmtu je.. but ORDERS ARE ORDERS.. aku pon join venture la ngan mereka2 y dr kedah, perak, johor, negeri sembilan ni balik penang.. n the REAL plan is im going back to kl after i got my result n the rest of them are going to terengganu straight form penang.. BUT atas kegedikan empunya blog nihhh.. she suddenly had a change of plan n decided to follow them to terengganu.. hahahaha seriously this girl.. ;PP

so that night all 9 of us pon bertolak lah ke terengganu.. for the other 8 its THE elective posting but for me its my 2nd elective posting.. duh! gedik gler.. -_-" (sanggup blk kulim amek baju n patah blk butterworth just to join them, aku sehelai sepinggang kot dr kl, pastu ada hati nk g terengganu smpai seminggu.. hHahaHa ;P)

ok kt sni terserlah lg kegedikan empunya blog ini.. we r suppose to be there 2 weeks, but atas kesukahatiannya tersendiri, empunya blog ni plan utk stay sane seminggu jerrr.. why?? haaa ni nk bg tau cik jah, aku kan mmg dah keje kt al-amin jd cikgu, then planning nk g terengganu ni pulak jatuh pd cuti pertghn semester... sbb tu ckgu ina dpt join kwn2 die.. ;P gedik kan?? haishhh.. fenin dgn kegedikan sendiri...

soooooo, ni la part y aku br nk bercerita pasal pengalaman kt resort tuhh (mesti korg pk 'cis br skg ni cite') hahaha.. ade ckgu ina kesah?? ;PPP

neway. kt sna, my 1st ever posting (eh mcm kt hospital lak posting2. ;P) ialah kt department F&B a.k.a food & banquet.. antara tugas2 kt dept ni ialah, kne jd waitress, buat air, basuh cwn2, sudu garfu n bersih2 kan restoran kt resort tu.. AND apart form that, F&B ni incharge utk sediakan dewan utk any events y tlh di tempah awal... so that the hardest n most tiring lah kot.. coz kne angkat2 meja, kerusi tu sume plus susun2 kertas n pencil, cawan.. n bende y paling ak tak ske buat ialah, bile kne layan group y ade event kt situ mkn.. haiyaa.. gatal nk mampuih.. buat keje siyes tak kisah but nk kne wat muke stone sedangkan dlm hati tgh rasa mcm nk siat2 guests tuh mmg cabaran y sgt besauu..

but anyway, tu je pon sbnrnye dept y aku smpt masuk, coz im only there for a week n we also di'sibuk'kn dgn menjadi pekerja di wedding manager resort tu. sabaq je lah~~ maleh nk cite pnjg!!!~

sepanjang aku kt sna, byk lessons y ak dpt.. especially when people look down at u just because u r JUST a resort worker. seriously, ak dlu pon berpendapat cmtu kot. 'ala, memang keje dorg pon'...

but seriously, bila kite berada kt tmpt org tu, fuh, br aku phm perasaan dipandang rndh tu.

then.. ak slalu rase hidup ak ni dh cukup serabut, susah, etc. but bila keje kt resort ni, br ak appreciate my current life nihh..

ade certain workers kt stu start keje umo 12, 13 tahun.. aih.. aku umo tu?? haiya main2 lg.. ade jgk y ada 2 keje.. 7 smpai 3 ptg keje resort, then keje kt stesen minyak lak pastu.. aduiii ponatnya!!

betapa ak jarang mensyukuri nikmat y Allah bg.. betapa aku lupa nk bersyukur utk setiap rezeki y Allah bg.. Allah, Allah, Allah.. :'(

conclusions....

1. kita merancang but Allah sebaik2 perancang.
2. nikmat y ada jarang disyukuri, apa y tiada sering dikesalkan.

alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal...

p/s: fuh pnjg gle post nih... 0_0 sori boring~~~~~~

ada apa dgn 3 Mac???

bismillah..

RASA SEDIH DAN INGIN MENANGIS BILA MELIHAT GAMBAR INI..

Gambar ini adalah Gambar Khalifah terakhir kita Sultan Abdul Hamed II meninggalkan istana atas arahan Presiden Turki pertama Mustafa Kamal Atartuk pada 3 Mac 1922.

Memperingati 90 tahun sejarah hitam SISTEM PEMERINTAHAN ISLAM.
KEMBALIKAN PEMERINTAHAN KHALIFAH!!!!!

bismillah...

Kaunselor : Apakah pekerjaan Encik Zainal?
Encik Zainal : Saya bekerja sebagai Akauntan di sebuah Bank.
Kaunselor : Halimah pula?
Encik Zainal : Dia tidak bekerja. Hanya suri rumah sahaja.
Kaunselor : Selepas hantar anak-anak, Halimah buat apa?
Encik Zainal : Balik berehat, kerana seharian saya penat bekerja.
Kaunselor : Apa Halimah buat?
